General Issues
==============

We have found that some laptops require being powered off
completely before restarting. If you find that your system
works correctly every other time you restart you will need
to power-off your computer each time you shutdown and/or
reboot. We recommend turning the power off each time you
reboot as a general practice.

We have found that some combinations of laptop/OS require
that the CardBus card be inserted into just socket 0 or
just socket 1 for the chassis to work properly. If you
find your devices are not being detected by the OS you
are using, try inserting the CardBus card into the other
socket.

Changes and or updates to this version
========================================

	- a laptop with only 1 socket no longer requires
	  using cbregedt.exe to click 1 socket

	- support for replacement Dec 21152 Host Bridges

	- Fixed bad pointer causing blue screen on certain
	  video cards

	- Fixed bus enumeration algorthm

Platform specific issues
========================

WIN2000/Xp

	Turn off your computer after running Setup.exe.

	Drivers for cards to be used in the Magma CardBus
	Epxansion System must be written explicitly for
	Windows 2000. Windows NT 4.0 drivers will not work
	even if the vendor claims compatiblity.

	Windows 2000 Drivers must be Plug and Play. This means
	the driver must be a WDM, pnp driver written for
	Win2k or Xp not ported from WindowsNT.

	If you intend to install the Windows 2000 service pack,
	the Magma software will need to be reinstalled after
	installing the service pack. Do this by uninstalling
	using the "Add/Remove Program" icon in the Control
	Panels and choosing "Remove all installed components".
	After the uninstall completes, run SETUP.exe.

NT4
  	Turn off your computer after running Setup.exe.

	Our driver disables the PCMCIA.SYS driver on boot
	if it detects our CardBus is plugged into a socket.
	The pop-up message and event log message stating the
	PCMCIA driver did not start is normal. It will not
	appear if our card is not found.

	Our software works with the latest versions of CardWare
	and CardWizard; it does not work with any version of
	SoftEx. If your system is using SoftEx please remove
	or disable it before installing our software.

WINME/98SE

  	The installer gives you the option to install the
	Prefetch Patch. If you choose to install the
	Prefetch patch, the patch will prompt you to restart.
	Answer, "No", to restart. After the install
 	shield wizard finishes, turn off your computer.

	The Prefetch patch is required if your cards
	require prefetch memory, like the ATI Rage Video Card.

=======================
Installing the Software
=======================

WIN2000/98SE/ME/WinNT

	Insert pci cards in chassis connect cable and power on.
	Insert cardbus into cardbus/pcmcia slot of laptop.
	Boot
	Your system should find new hardware and prompt you
	to reboot. If your system finds a "PCI - PCI Bridge"
	and prompts you for a driver, just click next, next
	next, finish. (This is o.k. our cardbus is a bridge)
	Once you reboot

	Double click SETUP.EXE on the Magma CD-ROM.

	Shutdown, power off your system
	Reboot
	Your system should find another "PCI - PCI Bridge" and
	prompt you for a driver, just click next, next
	next, finish. (This is o.k. A bridge is in the chassis)
	You may be prompted to reboot, reboot.

	Your system should now find your pci devices.
	Make sure your drivers are installed or click cancel
	and install your drivers and software.

=======================
Uninstalling the Driver

WIN2000/98SE/ME/WinNT

Troubleshooting
==================

	ERROR CODE 12
		If you receive error code 12 on the first Dec 21150
		bridge, this usually means the driver is not installed

	ERROR CODE 31
		Try using the other cardbus socket.

	ERROR CODE 12 on a PCI Card in the Chassis
		This usually means the memory, io, or prefetch is more
		than what we have allocated in the driver.
		Use cbregedt.exe to bump up memory or prefetch and
		reboot.
		i.e. in the memory field enter 10000000, this is 1
			and seven zeros, hexadecimal for 256 megs
			You can do the same for prefetch

	ERROR CODE 10 on a PCI Card in the Chassis
		This means there is a problem with the PCI Card driver.
		Contact Magma technical support.

	ERROR CODE 28 on a PCI Card in the Chassis
		The driver for the PCI Card is not installed on your
		system.

 	If you have any difficulties, please call technical support
	at the following (858) 880-2225. Before calling,
	turn off, power down, your computer. After logging back
	in to your computer, please start the dbgview program
	and then run the dump.exe program. These programs are
	located in the Program Files\Magma\. Save the results
	to a file and email them to support@magma.com.
